Jorge Rossy (b. 1964) — Drums. Played on The Art of the Trio, Vol. 3. Worked with Brad Mehldau, Larry Grenadier.

Rossy sees a hidden axis connecting drums and vibraphone — two instruments that look unrelated on the surface. After leaving the Mehldau Trio in 2005 and returning to Barcelona, he was drawn to the mallet instrument's possibilities. His drumming training — the independence of four limbs, the precise control of timing — translated directly to the vibraphone. His vibraphone still sounds like a drummer is playing it: the attack is crisp, the rhythmic skeleton always present. Less a change of instrument, more the same set of ideas spoken in a different voice.

The late-90s Mehldau trio inherited the conversational model of the Bill EvansBill EvansBill Evansビル・エヴァンス trio while treating rock and pop songs as raw material for improvisation. His contrapuntal right-hand lines became a signature.
