All Voice
After school, in the library. Their usual seats. One earbud each. Yui is listening to something and looks genuinely surprised.
Yui “Wait — is this all his voice?”
Sota “All voice.”
Yui “No instruments?”
Sota “None. Bass, drums — all of it is this guy's voice.”
Yui “…No way.”
Sota “Way. His name's Bobby McFerrin.”
Yui “I know him — he did Don't Worry, Be Happy, right?”
Sota “Yeah. But if that's all you know, this'll blow your mind. He does full solo jazz sets — thirty minutes, just him.”
Yui “Thirty minutes, alone?!”
Sota “He pulls the audience in too. Thousands of people singing together.”
Yui “…That's incredible, but I can't really picture it.”
Sota “He did a duo with Herbie Hancock ↗ too. Just piano and voice.”
Yui “I want to hear that.”
Yui turns up the volume on her earbud.
Yui “…His voice sounds like an instrument.”
Sota “I think that's probably how he sees it too.”
Vocals — He does everything with just his voice. Then he dueted with Hancock.
